The Summit to Build 18 New Cottages
Comfortable homes for residents are just around the corner as The Summit embarks on an ambitious master plan, which includes the construction of 18 new cottages. Over the next four years, current and future residents will experience new enhancements and growth outlined in a master plan, presented to residents and Advantage Club Members in July.
“Since joining the LifeSpire of Virginia family in October 2021, The Summit has seen a tremendous
investment in its campus,” Tracey Jennings, LifeSpire’s Chief Operating Officer, said. Already underway, The Summit is making a $2 million investment, including renovating the Independent Living commons space by creating a community center re-purposing the space with a fresh layout and feel.
The capital improvements come on the heels of other improvements, including keyless entry, security cameras, new bus, handicapped accessible van, enhanced Internet services, upgraded generators, new awnings and landscaping along Enterprise Drive.
A major milestone will be the start of construction on 18 beautiful garden cottages, near Summit Lake, along Grand Summit Drive. Presales begin with Advantage Club Members in October, with construction slated to start in April 2024.
“A cottage at The Summit is such a beautiful and popular home to enjoy retirement,” Marketing Director Brenda Dixon said. “We’re excited to expand and give more Advantage Club members the opportunity to call The Summit home.”
In addition to the new garden cottages, the Independent Living commons space will receive a major renovation, including relocating and expanding the fitness center and adding public restrooms. The
creative arts space will be moved to give residents a special area to engage in art projects.
The focal point of the commons space will be a new cafe serving breakfast and lunch items, along with pre-dinner wine tastings and appetizers.
The Summit continues to embark on new projects with team members and residents. The master plan is
complete. Upcoming focus groups with residents and Advantage Club members will help shape amenity
space, finishes and proposed cafe menus and hours. “I’m so excited for the future of The Summit,” Jennings said. “The Summit has so much to offer and we’ll be working together to continue to grow this community.”
