Cottage Construction Underway
The Summit broke ground on 18 cottages in the spring and the first six homes are framed with roofs. The remaining 12 have pads poured with framing to follow.
“The community is extremely excited about our expansion and the cottages,” Executive Director Kristi Martin said.
New residents will move into the first six cottages next June with the remaining 12 ready for move in before the end of 2025.
The Summit’s Independent Living and Assisted Living hallways are also getting a facelift with new paint, lighting and flooring.
The Hybrid Homes and cottages are part of a sprawling campus expansion marking the largest investment in The Summit since opening its doors over 20 years ago.
This spring, residents celebrated the opening of The Blue Ridge Commons and a four seasons patio. The campus expansion will also include a larger Independent Living community space and a 20-bed\ neighborhood, attached to Assisted Living, providing memory support.
“We are so excited with the investment that LifeSpire of Virginia is making in The Summit’s campus,” Martin said. “From new housing options to new amenities, each project is another step in making The Summit the premiere retirement community in Central Virginia.”
