Summit Citizen, Paul Kavanaugh, Celebrates 100th Birthday

November 7, 2016

Excitement mounted on the afternoon of November 7th as final preparations were made for Paul Kavanaugh’s 100th Birthday Celebration. Over 50 of Pauls’ friends and neighbors crowded together to celebrate his exciting milestone with him at The Summit.

Just a few minutes after 1 p.m., whispers spilled out into the hallway “here he comes”, “Paul’s coming”, “get ready everyone...” as Paul made his way down the hall to the Community Room. He was greeted with a heartfelt Happy Birthday song and presented with a birthday hat to fit the occasion.

Paul opened the party with a few words of wisdom where he gave God the credit for reaching his 100th birthday, while a few friends noted and gave the credit to his daily cup of hot chocolate which he enjoys each morning from The Summit’s Coffee Station while reading the morning paper. The party was complete with birthday cards, balloons, a birthday banner, housemade chips and dip, cake and ice-cream.  A picture display played across the TV screen as a tribute to events throughout his his life.

At the party, Hazel Harrison read a biography which she wrote about Paul’s life, that biography can be found here.
