Resident Life

Resident Life

It’s your time. Time to connect, engage, widen possibilities, pursue new interests, enjoy old ones, and focus on well-being. The Summit offers dynamic events for your mind, body, and soul. We take the time to get to know you, your background, your interests, and any special skills or needs. That means events as diverse as our residents. Your social calendar can be as busy as you choose!

Here is just a sample of events at The Summit:

Fun and Games

From regular clubs like Canasta, Bridge and Dominoes to ping pong, pool, darts and Wii game challenges, there is some kind of fun for everyone! Special nights are also hosted to play our own special kind of Jeopardy, Price is Right, and Trivia Night.

Low and High Impact Exercise

Indoor and outdoor exercise options abound on our beautiful campus. Tai Chi and Yoga classes are available or take regular walks along our gorgeous walking trails. Try balloon ball, kickball, and beach ball volleyball for exercise that also comes with a lot of laughter.

The Creative Side

We have a lot of fun doing things like cooking, painting, singing, crafting, and scrapbooking. Sometimes we do them on campus and other times we go to the fun - like the Fifth Street Art House for a glass blowing demonstration and tour.

The Spiritual Side

Several churches hold worship services on campus. Bible study, prayer groups, and devotion nights are also available to attend.

Out and About

We plan some amazing day trips from local play productions, musical events and speakers, and minor league baseball games to exciting visits to places like the D-Day Memorial, Lynchburg Museum, Safari Park, The Peaks of Otter, and Living Christmas Tree.

Special Events

Special Events at The Summit can take many forms - antique car shows, punch and cheese socials, cookouts, smoothies, current events over coffee and donuts (including horoscopes and the advice column), pig roasts, dancing, birthday parties, holiday fun, and pet therapy (dogs and yes, rabbits).

Other Ways to Get Involved

The Summit is an engaged community with residents personally invested in making it a great place to live. Resident Councils offer the chance for not just input but action. Councils include Activities, Spiritual Life, Welcome, Dining, Library, Landscaping, and Recycling. From councils to floor representatives to helping neighbors and running our phenomenal established library, our residents give of their own time and talent.

Activities that Change with Your Needs

As a Life Plan community, we will ensure your level of care and your activities change to meet your personal needs.
